Meifumado– This time, step into a post-apocalyptic future where nothing has changed, and factions are still at war for supremacy. You’re going to have to align with other Samurai Warriors to turn your enemies into sushi rolls. Welcome to the island of Yamatai – a land in ruins and up for grabs. With beautifully hand-drawn graphics, explore the vast map to steal, craft, and upgrade your gear. In true samurai fashion, raid caravans and pillage villages, but keep the seppuku knife handy, for actions have consequences in the game. There’s no release date for this action RPG yet, but we shall be on the lookout for this gorgeous Metroidvania-esque game.

The Spirit Of The Samurai-If slaying the undead is your thing then welcome to Takeshi’s village. Before it goes on to become a castle, you have to defend its honor from an advancing army of Onis,Tengus and Jorogumos. Dive into the beautiful world recreated with step motion animation. Explore the lore rich Japanese mythology stumbling across villages, mountain caves and cemeteries. The game arrives somewhere in 2024.

Soul Blade – If waiting for Silk Song has your youth withered, then there’s still hope, maybe. Bringing swordplay into focus, the game lets players build their “soul gauge” by sword-playing with enemies. Eventually, the gauge fills up, and you can send enemies flying through the dojo because it’s payback time, baby. Immerse yourself in the world with beautifully drawn 2D animations and an art style reminiscent of Hollow Knight. Hopefully, you wouldn’t get too old waiting for the game by 2025.

Rise of the Ronin-Supposedly set at the fag end of the Tokugawa’s dynasty (1863), a repressive period that lasted three centuries. Step into the geta of a brave Ronin that obeys no master. Errr, a grave mistake really since the game is actually about a foreign invasion, and a little allegiance to a powerful master would do the Ronin some good. All ye history buffs rejoice, for the game drops you in the middle of the Boshins war, a movement that sought to overthrow the veiled Shogunate and usher in an era of foreign investment. Being developed by Team Ninja, the game is a PS5 exclusive and set to launch in 2024.

Wuchang :Fallen Feathers– Go back in time to the Ming Dynasty. Play as a ninja afflicted by a disease called feathering. Developed by the Chinese studio Leenzee Games, the game finds inspiration galore from a plethora of Soulsborne games such as Sekiro and Bloodborne. Fight supernatural beings and send them back to hell with the aid of your trusted katana and assorted weapons. Set to release somewhere in 2024, we are hopeful the studio has added polish to the levels and await a new trailer soon.
